Music Therapy Podcasts List

There’s been an explosion in the number of music therapists who are also hosting their very own podcasts! Below, we’ve updated our running list of active (and our favorite inactive) podcasts for and by music therapists.

Active Podcasts

Instru(mental) is a podcast that reviews music cognition research from a music therapist’s perspective. The host, Brea Murakami (who also writes this blog!), shares how she translates the same research into her music therapy sessions. Every episode features practical tips for applying what you learning about music into everyday life.


The AMTA-Pro Podcast comes straight to you from the American Music Therapy Association. You’ll find in-depth conversations with music therapists talking about their specializations and hot topics in the field.


Clinical BOPulations is a music therapy podcast hosted by a collective of music therapists and music therapy educators. Every other week, these hosts introduce a singer/songwriter and explore how their music can be utilized therapeutically. Following a preview of the week’s featured BOP, each host will describe music therapy interventions that can be created as well as populations that would benefit from this track.


Creative Therapy Umbrella is a podcast in which music therapist Kate Shannon interviews professionals from creative disciplines such as dance, drama, art, speech, and occupational therapists.

The Feeling is Musical, hosted by the Snohomish County Music Project, has a conversational tone and explores a wide variety of topics in the evidence-based practice of music therapy.


Make More Music is a show hosted by music therapist Chris Millett that connects people to music & one another. The show interviews music and music-related field professionals to dispel the myth that careers in music are only starving artists to rockstar, and that there are abundant paths in between. A wide variety of guests are featured including music therapists, broadway actors, music influencers, instrument builders, artists, and more.


Hosted by Anthony Beuchel, The MTtea is all about “spilling the tea” about music therapy. You can expect chats with music therapists and other related professionals to explore a deeper understanding of music, therapy, and music therapy.

Discover new ideas and applications of one of the most innate human experiences: Music. Hosted by Caitlin Krater, Musical Health is a weekly music therapy informed podcast exploring music in healthcare.


Music Therapy Chronicles is hosted by Tricia Caiati who talks about “music therapy from a variety of perspectives.” This podcast aims to connect and inspire listeners through meaningful conversations.

Music Therapy Conversations is a podcast hosted by Luke Annesley from the British Association for Music Therapy in a series of discussions with music therapists about the profession and related topics.


The Music Therapy Hour features guest interviews with music therapists around the world. The host, Nicole Jacobs Briggs gears the conversations toward student and professional music therapists, as well as individuals interested in pursuing music therapy as a career.


Music Therapy Island is a new podcast about music therapy (and everything…) as seen through the lens of gal pals/MT-BCs Esther Hood and Patty Allison. They aim to connect and cultivate a music therapy community so no MT-BC feels like an island.



This podcast is hosted by music therapist Dean Quick and is grounded in music discussion, philosophy, and psychology.

Perspectives on Perspectives is a new podcast venture of Music Therapy Perspectives, one of two journals published by the American Music Therapy Association. Episodes interview the authors of recently published articles so you can keep up to date on the latest music therapy research.


Hosted by MusicWorx, a private practice in San Diego, the Sound Solutions Podcast is about everything music therapy, music wellness, and professional development. Topics center on how to find success in personal and professional life through music therapy and music-centered wellness. Interviews with experts in the music therapy field are aimed at music therapists, students, and educators.

The Guitars and Granola Bars podcast from Rachel Rambach, sharing insights about being a working mom music therapist, probably rings true for working parents everywhere. Rachel does great interviews with music therapy mamas from all walks of life and talks about how to balance two high priorities for many music therapists: family and work.

Forget Dis! is a podcast hosted by music therapist Emily Rawlings and highlights individuals with unique challenges or who are differently-abled, allowing them to tell their stories on their own terms.

The Music Therapy Show is hosted by Janice Lindstrom and features hundreds of episodes about new ideas for music therapy practice, updates on music therapy research, and diverse discussions of what’s happening in the field.
